SpecPatch 15
Fast-setting polymer-modified concrete repair material
SpecPatch 15 is a versatile, polymer-modified concrete repair mortar ideal for restoring concrete floors, walls, precast structures, tilt-up, and masonry surfaces. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, providing a durable solution that can be finely adjusted by shaving or sanding to meet repair needs.
- Lifts up to 1″ in thickness
- Designed for interior & exterior repairs
- Dries to the color of concrete
- Can be feather-edged and shaped
- One-component — just add water
- Excellent durability and adhesion
Application
Applications:
- Suitable for interior and exterior environments
- Applicable to vertical, overhead, and horizontal repairs
- Ideal for no slump consistency applications
- Excellent for repairing concrete pipes, curbs, sidewalks, and precast concrete
Surface Preparation
- Cleaning the Surface:
- Ensure the concrete is sound, and free from oil, grease, dust, laitance, or other contaminants.
- Saw cut perimeter: Cut the perimeter of the repair area 1/8” deeper than the repair depth to create a notched, reinforced edge.
- Abrasive Preparation: Mechanically abrade the surface to a minimum Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) of 5. Ensure all surfaces are saturated-surface-damp (SSD) with no standing water.
- Steel Reinforcement Treatment: Clean all exposed steel reinforcement of rust and coat with SpecPrep SB. Apply SpecPrep SB to SSD concrete, and proceed with the repair mortar application wet on wet or within the recommended open time.
Mixing and Application
- Mixing Procedure:
- Mix 6.75 to 7.25 pints of clean water per 50 lb bag of SpecPatch 15. Use a low-speed drill for mixing, starting with water, then gradually adding SpecPatch 15. Mix for 2 to 3 minutes until homogenous.
- Optional: SpecPatch 15 may be used with SpecChem StrongBond Acrylic Bonder neat or mixed 1:1 with water per 50 lb of powder to increase durability, abrasion resistance, and bond strength. The addition of StrongBond is recommended for thin, horizontal applications subject to heavy traffic or wear.
- Application Instructions: Trowel SpecPatch 15 firmly into the prepared area ensuring full contact with the bonding surface. Overfill slightly and shape roughly during placement.
- Shaping: After the initial set, shave the material to the final shape using a steel trowel. For larger applications, additional lifts can be applied after the initial set, ensuring the original lift has a rough surface to enhance bond between lifts.
Finishing and Curing
- Finishing: Finish the repair material to match the surrounding concrete texture. SpecPatch 15 is self-curing under most conditions.
- Curing: Moist curing is recommended immediately after finishing and should continue for 48 hours. Protect newly applied material from rain, sun, and wind until it reaches 70% of the 28-day strength.
Shelf Life
Unopened bags have a 12-month shelf life in dry conditions. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
