IntraFilm
Advanced colloidal silica concrete finishing aid
IntraFilm is an advanced colloidal silica concrete finishing aid that enhances the finishing process of concrete surfaces and extends workability under challenging conditions such as extreme temperatures, wind, or low humidity. IntraFilm is engineered to facilitate a smoother, more efficient finishing process, and to improve the durability and lower the maintenance needs of concrete slabs by reacting during the concrete’s hydration phase.
- Extends the workability of the concrete surface in varied environmental conditions including heat, humidity, dryness, and wind.
- Enhances the application of dry shake hardeners.
- Increases concrete workability without altering the water-to-cement ratio.
- Minimizes wear on trowels and equipment due to its lubricating properties.
- Improves impact and abrasion resistance.
- Helps maintain moisture in the slab, reducing curling and shrinkage.
- Lowers the potential for checking, crazing, and scaling.
- Contains low VOC content (<50 g/L), reducing environmental impact.
- Diminishes the potential for alkali-silica reaction (ASR).
- Facilitates easier finishing with silica fume, Type 1L cement, and air-entrained concrete mixes.
- Reduces efflorescence and dusting, lowering maintenance requirements.
Application
IntraFilm is ideal for use during the floating and troweling stages of concrete placement. For application, utilize a clean, hand-pump, tank-type sprayer equipped with a low-pressure tip to evenly distribute the product. A light mist of IntraFilm should be applied over the surface intended for treatment, followed by immediate commencement of screeding, floating, troweling, or any other finishing process.
IntraFilm comes in both a ready-to-use formula and a concentrate that should be diluted with water (1 part concentrate to 4 parts clean, potable water), stirred or shaken vigorously to ensure a uniform mix.
Packaging
IntraFilm is available in 275-gallon totes, 55-gallon drums, 5-gallon pails, and 1-gallon jugs (4 per case).
Shelf Life
IntraFilm shelf life in the original, tightly closed containers is two years from the date of manufacture.
Coverage
The ready-to-use formula typically covers between 500 to 1000 square feet per gallon as a finishing aid, and 250 to 500 square feet per gallon when used as a concrete densifier. These coverage rates can vary based on surface texture, porosity, and weather conditions.
Standards
IntraFilm is suitable for a wide range of applications, including warehouse and industrial flatwork, parking structures, office buildings, and arenas. It complies with VOC regulations and is accepted by the USDA.
Cleaning
Tools and any spills can be easily cleaned with soap and warm water before the material dries.
