C-Set
Calcium chloride accelerating admixture
C-Set is an accelerating admixture suitable for use with Portland cement, masonry cement, and stucco mortars. It enhances the hydration process of cement, leading to reduced setting times and increased early and ultimate strengths. Additionally, C-Set offers better workability, helps in reducing segregation, and assists in early stiffening for mortar and stucco mixes. This product is especially effective in cold weather conditions by generating rapid heat in the mortar, which protects it from early freezing.
- Speeds Up Setting Times: Reduces setting time by one to three hours, essential in fast-paced construction environments.
- Cold Weather Protection: By accelerating early strength, C-Set helps protect mortar from freezing during initial set.
- Enhances Workability and Performance: Improves production efficiency by enhancing mortar workability, reducing set time, and lowering permeability.
- Boosts Strength: Provides high early strength and improves overall strength of the mortar.
- Versatile: Compatible with gray, white, or colored mortars.
- Environmentally Friendly: Complies with V.O.C. standards.
Application
To achieve optimal results, mix C-Set with the water used in preparing mortar. It can also be added to the sand or directly into the mortar batch. Avoid mixing C-Set directly with dry cement or other additives before integration into the mortar.
Recommended Dosage
- Portland Cement: Add 18 to 46 oz of C-Set per 94 lb bag, depending on the desired acceleration.
- Masonry Cement: Use 16 to 32 oz per bag. Adjustments should be made based on specific job requirements and materials used.
Packaging
- 55 gallon drums
- 5 gallon pails
- 1 gallon jugs (sold in cases of 4)
Shelf Life
C-Set should be stored in its original, tightly sealed container, maintaining its quality for up to 2 years from the manufacturing date.
Standards
C-Set meets the ASTM C-494 Type C standards as applicable to mortar, ensuring compliance with the industry requirements for a chloride masonry accelerator.
