Application

Surface Preparation: Surfaces to receive mortar must be clean and structurally sound. Remove all oil, grease, dirt, laitance, curing compounds, and any other foreign matter by sandblasting, mechanical abrasion or oil free compressed air. Once thoroughly cleaned, the surface
must be profiled by shotblasting, shaving or other means to provide an open (CSP 4-6), dry surface. Air, material, and surface temperatures must be a minimum of 50°F and maximum of 90°F prior to mixing or installation.

Placing: Apply the mixed DuraMortar to the still tacky primed surface and spread with a trowel or rake immediately or within 20 – 30 min. Allow remaining work time for finishing. If necessary, use Solvent 100 as a finishing aid to lubricate the trowel allowing a smooth epoxy finish.

Priming: Use SpecPoxy 1000 or 2000 to prime the prepared substrate. To assist with mixing and dispensing, precondition material to 70°F. Mix each component separately, then mix component A and component B for approx. 2 minutes with a low speed drill motor using a Jiffy mixer or paddle. Uniformly apply the primer to prepared surface at a rate of 100 sq-ft per gal. Coverage will depend on substrate roughness and porosity. Working time of the primer is approx. 20 min. Mixed DuraMortar must be applied before the primer coat is tack-free.

Mortar Mixing Instructions: To assist with DuraMortar mixing and application, precondition material to 70°F. Mix each component separately, then mix component A and component B for approx. 2-3 minutes with a low speed drill with a Jiffy mixer or paddle. Slowly add part C (aggregate) and mix until all aggregates are coated with epoxy. Mix only as much material as can be used within the pot life. Reduce Part C aggregate up to 50% to produce a more flowable/screedable mortar. Full extension is required for applications over 2” deep.
