SC Multi-Purpose Grout
Non-shrink non-metallic grout
SC Multipurpose Grout is a versatile, non-shrink, and non-metallic cement-based grout, engineered for a wide array of grouting needs. Its design allows for application consistency ranging from damp pack to flowable, enabled by controlled, positive expansion.
- Provides controlled positive expansion for optimal load bearing.
- Non-metallic and non-corrosive.
- Suitable for pouring or pumping.
- Excellent freeze/thaw durability.
- Can be Extended with pea stone for deep fills.
- Matches natural concrete color.
- Supports LEED credit achievement.
- User-friendly, just add water.
- Free of chlorides and gypsum.
- USDA accepted.
Application
Surface Preparation
- Cleaning the surface: Remove all dirt, oil, and any loose or foreign materials.
- For metal surfaces in contact with the grout, ensure they are free from rust, oil, grease, and other contaminants.
- Conditioning the surface:
- Ensure the concrete surface is sound and roughened (CSP 3 or greater).
- Achieve a saturated surface dry (SSD) state for at least an hour before grouting.
- Remove excess water prior to grout application.
- Securing the area: Bolts, base plates, and equipment should be securely fastened.
- Temperature management: Ensure all materials and surfaces are within 50°-80°F.
- Form preparation: Design forms to allow continuous grout placement with venting to prevent air entrapment.
- Ensure a minimum of 1” horizontal clearance around the base plate and forms should be 1” higher than the base plate’s bottom.
Mixing and Application
- Mixing:
- For small quantities, mix manually until lump-free.
- For larger volumes, use a mortar mixer with rubber-tipped blades or an appropriate grout pump.
- Mix for at least 5 minutes.
- Begin mixing with minimal water, adding the grout powder to achieve the desired consistency.
- Application:
- Execute a continuous and swift placement to avoid air pockets.
- Ensure the grout thoroughly occupies the spaces and maintains contact with the base plate.
- Do not vibrate the grout.
- Apply the grout up to the bottom of the base plate only.
Curing Process
- Wet curing: Initiate immediately after grout placement until the final set.
- Final curing: Use a SpecChem ASTM C309 compliant curing compound after the final set.
Special Conditions
- Deep applications: Use pre-washed 3/8” pea gravel for applications exceeding 3” in depth.
Packaging
Available in 50 lb bags, yielding approximately 0.45 cu. ft. in fluid condition. An addition of 50% by weight of 3/8” pea stone increases yield to approximately 0.59 cu. ft.
Shelf Life
Store in a cool, dry place. When kept in its original, sealed container, shelf life extends to one year from the manufacture date.
