SpecPoxy 500 Green Conscious Product

ASTM 881 compliant hi-mod, ultra-low viscosity epoxy injection adhesive

SpecPoxy 500 is a two-component, ultra-low viscosity, moisture-insensitive, high-modulus structural epoxy bonding adhesive and crack injection resin. It is composed of 100% solids, free from solvents, emits a low odor, and delivers robust strength.

  • Ultra-Low Viscosity & Deep Crack Penetration: Its ultra-low viscosity allows deep penetration into fine cracks, ensuring thorough sealing and reinforcement, which extends the durability of structural repairs.
  • 100% Solids & Environmentally Friendly: Free from solvents, SpecPoxy 500 reduces environmental impact and avoids shrinkage during curing, providing a more stable and reliable repair.
  • High Modulus & Enhanced Structural Integrity: Offers exceptional rigidity, which is ideal for reinforcing compromised structures, enhancing the overall stability and lifespan of the repair.
  • Moisture-Insensitive: Can be applied in damp conditions without affecting performance, making it versatile for various environments and reducing delays in project timelines.
  • Low Odor & Safer Application: The low odor formulation makes it more comfortable to use in confined or poorly ventilated spaces, enhancing worker safety and compliance with indoor air quality standards.
  • ASTM C-881 Compliance & Versatile Application Methods: Meets rigorous industry standards and can be applied using multiple techniques, including gravity feed and pressure injection, making it adaptable for a wide range of repair needs.

Application

Applications:

  • Seals and heals cracks deeply.
  • Binds concrete, steel, and wood effectively.
  • Suitable for gravity-fed or pressure injection crack repairs.
  • Ideal for anchoring bolts, dowels, and reinforcing bars.

Mixing Instructions:
Ensure that air, material, and surface temperatures are at least 40°F before mixing or application. To facilitate mixing and dispensing, precondition materials to 75°F. For bulk applications, mix two parts of component A to one part of component B by volume using a low-speed drill and Jiffy mixer or paddle for three minutes. Mix only the amount you can use within the pot life. For cartridges, ensure that the resin and hardener are uniformly dispensed and mixed simultaneously through a mixing nozzle.

Surface Preparation:
Surfaces must be clean and structurally sound. Remove all oil, grease, dirt, laitance, curing compounds, and any other contaminants by sandblasting, mechanical abrasion, or oil-free compressed air. For pressure injection, prepare the surface adjacent to the cracks to expose clean, solid concrete.

Crack Injection:
Fasten injection ports to the concrete surface using Specpoxy 3000 FS at intervals of about 6” to 24”, depending on crack width and concrete thickness. Seal the crack surface with Specpoxy 3000 FS, ensuring it overlaps the crack by about 1.5” on both sides. Once the ports and crack surface have cured, inject SpecPoxy 500 using pressurized dispensing equipment or cartridges.

Gravity Filling:
Remove any dust or contaminants from surface cracks using compressed air or a wire brush. Pour or spread properly mixed SpecPoxy 500 across the surface, reapplying until fully absorbed. Remove any excess epoxy from the surface or grind it away once cured.

Bonding:
For structural bonding, apply SpecPoxy 500 neatly and work it into the substrate. The glue line should be no thicker than 1/16” (approx. 75 sq-ft per gal).

Packaging

Available in 1 gallon units, 3 gallon units, 15 gallon units, and 15 oz. dual cartridges.

Shelf Life

Store SpecPoxy 500 in its original, tightly closed containers, free from water, dirt, or other contaminants. The shelf life is two years from the date of manufacture when stored properly.
