Strong Bond Green Conscious Product

Acrylic bonding agent and admixture

Strong Bond is a versatile acrylic bonding agent and admixture designed to enhance the adhesion and durability of concrete, masonry, stucco, terrazzo, and Portland cement-sand mixes. Formulated for both horizontal and vertical applications, Strong Bond significantly improves the bond strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance of mortars and concrete surfaces. It’s particularly effective in environments requiring resistance to freezing and thawing cycles and chloride ion penetration.

  • Increases flexural, bond strength, and impact resistance of concrete and mortar.
  • Provides excellent freeze-thaw resistance and minimizes concrete, stucco, and plaster cracks when used as an admixture.
  • Eliminates the need for separate air-entraining agents, simplifying the mix design.
  • VOC compliant, ensuring a safer work environment and compatibility with environmental standards.

Application

  • Surface Preparation: Ensure substrates are mechanically abraded to remove unsound concrete, ensuring a dust-free surface with adequate profile for mechanical lock. The substrate should be saturated-surface-dry (SSD) without standing water.
  • Mixing and Application: Vary mix designs to meet specific job requirements, adjusting sand, cement, and Strong Bond ratios to achieve the desired physical properties. For bond coats, a slurry consistency is recommended, ensuring thorough coverage and attention to detail.
  • Admixture Dilution: Dilute Strong Bond up to 3:1 with water for general applications, with more concentrated mixtures offering increased durability.

Packaging

Available in 55-gallon drums, 5-gallon pails, and 1-gallon jugs, providing flexibility for project scales and requirements.

Shelf Life

Strong Bond has a shelf life of 1 year from the date of manufacture when stored properly and must not be allowed to freeze.

Test Data

  • Sets initial bond within 50 minutes and achieves final set within 80 minutes at 70°F.
  • Exhibits impressive compressive strength development over time, achieving up to 5500 psi at 28 days.
  • Demonstrates high bond strength and excellent freeze-thaw resistance, indicating durability in challenging environments.
