SC Multi-Purpose Grout

Non-shrink non-metallic grout

SC Multipurpose Grout is a versatile, non-shrink, and non-metallic cement-based grout, engineered for a wide array of grouting needs. Its design allows for application consistency ranging from damp pack to flowable, enabled by controlled, positive expansion.

  • Provides controlled positive expansion for optimal load bearing.
  • Non-metallic and non-corrosive.
  • Suitable for pouring or pumping.
  • Exhibits excellent freeze/thaw durability.
  • Can be bulked up with pea stone for deep fills.
  • Matches natural concrete color.
  • Supports LEED credit achievement.
  • User-friendly, just add water.
  • Free of chlorides and gypsum.
  • USDA accepted.

Application

To ensure optimal performance, it’s critical to prepare surfaces by cleaning off all dirt, oil, and any foreign substances. Metal surfaces in contact with the grout must be free of rust, oil, grease, and other contaminants to guarantee a strong bond. Concrete surfaces should be sound and roughened for improved bonding. If feasible, surfaces should be saturated surface dry (SSD) for at least an hour before grout application, ensuring excess water is removed. Secure all bolts, base plates, and equipment prior to grouting. Maintain materials and surfaces at a temperature range between 50°F to 80°F to ensure the grout performs as intended.

For formwork, ensure continuous grout placement and make provisions for air venting to avoid air entrapment. Place the forms at a 45-degree angle and ensure a minimum of 1 inch of horizontal clearance around base plates. Forms should extend at least 1 inch above the bottom of the base plate to facilitate proper grout head during placement.

Mixing

Grout can be mixed manually for small batches or mechanically for larger volumes and continuous applications. Begin with the minimum water requirement, adding water to the mixer first followed by the grout powder gradually. Adjust water to achieve the desired consistency, mixing thoroughly for 2 to 3 additional minutes. Do not exceed a 30-minute work time at 70°F.

Use

SC Multipurpose Grout is ideal for grouting pump and equipment base plates, anchor bolts, and in precast and tilt-up wall applications.

Packaging

Available in 50 lb bags, yielding approximately 0.45 cu. ft. in fluid condition. An addition of 50% by weight of 3/8” pea stone increases yield to approximately 0.59 cu. ft.

Shelf Life

Store in a cool, dry place. When kept in its original, sealed container, shelf life extends to one year from the manufacture date.
