Application

Purpose: Sleek 1000 SLU is utilized to level or smooth interior floors in both new construction and renovation projects where floors are rough, unfinished, or uneven.

Preparation: Follow standard ACI recommendations to prepare the surface. Ensure all surfaces are clean and free from oil, grease, paint, curing compounds, and any loose materials. Concrete substrates should be profiled to a minimum CSP#3, with shot blasting preferred.

Priming: Use SpecPrime to prime all surfaces at approximately 100 – 150 sq. ft. per gallon. Apply with a brush or broom (not a roller) to ensure coverage, which will depend on the surface condition and texture. Porous surfaces may require two applications. Allow SpecPrime to dry thoroughly before proceeding.

Mixing: Add 5 1/2 quarts of water to a mixing container, then slowly introduce one 50-pound bag of Sleek 1000 SLU. Mix using a heavy-duty drill at 650 rpm with a blending paddle for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and lump-free. For pumped applications, mix in the pump’s mixing tank for 1 to 2 minutes. Avoid overwatering and re-tempering. For increased thickness, add 15 pounds of clean 3/8″ pea gravel per 50 pounds of product during the final minute of mixing.

Installation

Pour or pump Sleek 1000 SLU over the substrate, spreading the material with a long-handled spreader or appropriate sized grout pump. The product levels itself within the first 20 minutes at 70°F and typically supports foot traffic within 2 to 4 hours, depending on site conditions.

Drying Time: Under normal conditions, floor coverings can be installed within 16-24 hours, subject to job site conditions.
